It's a Robot Birthday!

Our little guy turned the big numero UNO!  We are a bit in shock!  This year has flown by and he is everyday less and less a little baby.  Just this week Matt found him sitting on top of our computer desk.  Apparently he climbed on a little stool next to it and proceeded to entertain himself by climbing the summit.  Alas...we own babygates.  We have never owned them before.  We also have toilet locks.  We never owned them before either.  If you have to pee at our house you may need a tutorial your first go.

Stone has always been a laid back little dude.  He is super cuddly and loves to give kisses.  He is also very amused by his active older sister.  He has an awesome laugh and shows it off a lot!  He seems to be very interested in music.  He sways, bobs, swings his hands, and nods anytime music is within ear shot.  It can be so intense that we have to turn it off just to get him to eat some times.

His birthday party was a blast.  We invited some other one year old and almost one year old kiddos to the event (and their mom's).  Stone loved the attention and even got a little bashful when we sang him the Happy Birthday song.  When he saw his big slice of cake coming towards him he snatched it out of my hand and shoved it IMMEDIATELY to his face.  It was as if he wasn't sure he was aloud to have it, but he was not going to let his chance at tasting it go by.  If you got up close to him you could hear him breathing through the frosting that was shoved up his nose.  Classic!  He ate and ate and ate the cake, never taking it down from his face.  After he had his fill of cake I handed him a cake pop and he grabbed it and devoured it as well.  He didn't eat much dinner that night as you could imagine...but you are only 1 once.

Robots were the theme this year.  Ella and I made his cake and cake pops.  If you have never eaten a cake pop then you are missing out.  They are super tasty!  They take a bit of work to put together, but you can do so much with them.  We had so many left over after the party that Ella and I went to her friend's houses on campus to deliver each friend their very own cake pop.  What a treat!

Feeling a little bashful because of everyone singing to him...insert hand in mouth...it makes you feel a bit more courageous.

If you even think about taking this cake from me...

 Taking a breather.

Some of my closest friends here at Covenant. I wish the rest could have come.  It was strange to not have all of our older kids at the party too. We realized that our babies were silently crawling around and we Mamas were actually having practically uninterrupted conversation.  Typically our playdates are pierced with "you have to share that toy", If she she hits you then tell her that it hurts you", "If you keep whining then we will have to go home", ya know the usual with preschoolers.

It was the only way to occupy them. Bowling pins all around.
