Well, Ella was baptised on December 17, 2006. Both Grandparents and Aunt Becca were there to see it. Oliver (or pastor) explained it beautifully. He came over a few days before she was baptised and made sure we understood what we were doing. I had some questions for him about infant baptism and he answered them really well. It was the best I've ever heard it explained in my life. So we asked him to explain it again during her baptism. I was worried that Ella would not want to be up there for a long time, but she did wonderfully. She cooed through a lot of it and had the congregation laughing. She was mesmerized by Oliver's voice (South African accent). It's exciting to know that God is faithful to his children and his children's children. Obviously this event does not secure a spot in heaven for Ella, nor does it guarantee she will know God as her savior, but what is does do is say that we as parents are believers in God and we promise to tell her about Him and teach her what the Bible says. It's the same sign as when God in the old testament told Abraham to circumcise his children as infants. Infant baptism is just the new testament sign of that promise. We pray daily that Ella will grow up to know and love Jesus as her own savior. It was a fun, serious, and exiting day for us. Of course Ella looked beautiful in her dress and sweet jewelry. She's such a cutie!
